Dermal Fillers

What are Fillers and what can they do for me?

Dermal Fillers are an injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and plays an important role in keeping the skin looking young. HA is well known for its plumping and volume enhancing properties, since it has the amazing ability to attract water and bind moisture.

Fillers can be injected into areas of the face where volume has been lost to instantly restore facial structure, correct asymmetry, and smooth out lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Fillers safe?

Having a dermal filler treatment comes with it’s own set of risks. It is important to discuss these risks with your injector. Though complications are rare, they can happen, and choosing an highly experienced injector is the most important safety precaution you can take.

How long do fillers last?

There are two main factors when determining the longevity of Dermal Fillers: composition and area of injection.

Some fillers are thicker and more cohesive, and have a higher molecular weight than others. These fillers are typically placed in areas such as the cheekbones, jawline, and chin to mimic the appearance of bone structure and last about 12-18 months on average. Fillers for soft tissue areas such as lips, lines above the lip, nasolabial folds (lines from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth), marionette lines (corners of the mouth to the chin), and tear troughs are typically much softer, less cohesive, and have a lower molecular weight making them move more naturally with your expressions and lasting on average 8-12 months.

Does it hurt?

All of our HA Dermal Filler products contain a small amount of Lidocaine. This makes the treatment immediately more comfortable for the patient. Most of our patients find the procedure very easy to tolerate.

Will I need downtime?

The most common side effects with Dermal Fillers are mild swelling and sometimes, bruising. We offer complimentary pulsed dye laser treatment post-injection to help speed up the healing time for any bruises, should they develop. Most patients find that they can resume their normal activities immediately.
