Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for hair restoration involves a simple injection of your own platelets into the thinning areas on your scalp.

Hair Restoration with Platelet- Rich Plasma

How PRP Works

The platelet rich plasma contains healing growth factors that act like signal callers, giving instructions to your tissue to regenerate and multiply. This has lead different fields of medicine to use PRP for wound healing and regrow stronger, healthier tissue.

What are the steps?

This quick injection involves the collection and concentration of your body’s own platelets using a very easy process:

Step 1.

A collection tube is used to draw your blood and is placed into a centrifuge – a machine that separates red blood cells from the plasma.

Step 2.

After 10 minutes of centrifugation, the concentrated platelets are drawn up into a syringe.

Step 3.

The platelets are then injected using a small needle strategically into your scalp in the areas that need improvement.

How many treatments are required?

Treatment will vary based on your need. Initially, we recommend 3-5 treatments spaced one month apart. After the initial treatment series, we suggest maintenance treatments 2-3 times/ year.

Does the treatment hurt?

Because the scalp is such a sensitive area, we apply a topical anesthetic before- hand to minimize any potential discomfort.

Is there any recovery time?

There is no downtime or a long recovery process. You may take a warm shower the evening of the treatment. We advise to avoid using harsh dyes on your hair for 48 hours.

PRP is not a cure for baldness (Androgenic Alopecia) however, there is great evidence that regular treatments can significantly slow down the effects of this condition and help to increase hair density.
